The Eastbourne & Wealden RAYNET Group was formed in 1976 with the objective of supporting the blue light emergency services, Emergency Planning Officer and the voluntary emergency services such as the British Red Cross and the St John Ambulance. Eastbourne & Wealden RAYNET Group holds a weekly radio "check in" on Fridays at 19:30 hours (clock time) on a frequency of 144.675MHz.

The Eastbourne & Wealden RAYNET Group works in partnership with Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, the East Sussex Hospitals Trust, St John Ambulance Brigade, the British Red Cross Society, the East Sussex County Emergency Planning and District and Borough Emergency Planning Units.

In support of these organisations the Eastbourne & Wealden RAYNET Group provides communications during emergencies and at local community charity events such as the Beachy Head Marathon, Hailsham Carnival and the Lewes to Newhaven Raft Race.

Over the past nine years the Group has provided over 10,900 operator hours supporting a total of 130 emergencies and community events. To see past event reports follow this link : Event Reports
